Russian Front, january 1943. The 604 Battallion is forced to pass through the steppes to get away from the enemy. But when the night comes only 6 soldiers and a mule advance silently under a snow storm. The extreme weather together with the desperate need of surviving to that white cold desert make the soldiers lose perception of time and, step by step, put them in a dreamlike dimension where the “other way” made of memories and dreams and nightmares lies in front of them. A long night of war and a voyage into the human condition from birchwoods and mountain lakes to villages on fire, wheat fields in summer and snowy seasides.
